In the framework of the project “Empowering young people at risk of social exclusion”, the animated-documentary film Home, which was created by the Belgrade center for human rights with the support of the NGO Juventas, was premiered 11th of December, 2019 at the Cineplexx cinema in Podgorica.
Created animated – documentary film tells a story about two young men whose growing up was very different from that of most of their peers. Both of them, as young people, came to a care home for children, a place that was supposed to be a refuge from family problems. Almost 20 years after arriving home, they remember the earliest days of their childhood, the first impressions of their home, the experiences that forever marked them, relationships with other children and educators, the difficult and beautiful moments, challenges and obstacles they had to overcome after starting their own life.
After the documentary premiere, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions to the film’s main actors, to comment or express their opinion regarding this topic. Showing the documentary movie was very important because there were a lot of young people in the audience, and showing the documentary film could encourage young people to think differently and look at certain things from a different angle.
Also, it was concluded that society and the state need to pay far more attention to those who live in a Home for Children and Youth without parental care, as well as provide and improve necessary support to young people who are leaving alternative care system.
